Sports & Recreation at New Hope

Sports and recreation play a very important role at New Hope. We believe God wants us to enjoy life, and we enjoy having a good time together through sports and recreation. There is usually some type of sports league going on throughout the year at New Hope. All of our leagues are co-ed, and we encourage anyone who is interested, whether you are a beginner or pro, to play. (You must be 16 years of age to participate in a sports league.) Our philosophy regarding sports and recreation is simply to have fun - period. Our goal is to make sure everyone gets to play, friendships are formed, no one is injured, and everyone has a great time!
The following is a brief description of the various sports and recreational related events at New Hope.

Co-Ed Softball

2006 Schedule | Rules (.pdf format)

New Hope has its own co-ed softball league. There are generally 10 to 12 teams in the league with 8 to 10 of the teams from our church. Games normally begin in mid-May and are played only on Saturdays at a local city park through mid-August. A minimum of three women are required to play in the field at all times. All team members are allowed to bat. It is slow pitch with the team at bat providing their own pitcher.

Co-Ed Volleyball
New Hope has its own co-ed volleyball league. There are generally 6 teams in the league with 4 or 5 of the teams from our church. There is normally a volleyball league in the fall and in the spring. Games are played at Parkway Gym (at the corner of 4th Avenue and Parkway in downtown Chula Vista) on a weekday evening. Teams play a best two out of three match. Six players are allowed on the court at a time with a minimum of two women.

Co-Ed Bowling
New Hope also has its own co-ed bowling league. All teams competing are normally from our church. Games are played on Sunday afternoons at a local bowling center. Scoring is based on a handicap system. The number of players on each team depends upon the number of participants in the league. The bowling league begins in the winter.

We are driven by a "vision" which is... Connecting people to the New Hope family, growing spiritually, serving God, reaching our communities; celebrating Christ.
