Class Offerings
Classes at New Hope Community Church
are designed to help us fulfill our vision which is
to: "Communicate the good news of Jesus Christ
in a culturally relevant way in order to see non-Christians
become Christians, and to help Christians grow to spiritual
maturity to the point where they are effectively sharing
their faith and investing their lives in some meaningful
ministry."
In order to be a balanced church,
we strive to grow balanced Christians by teaching the
five "M"s of Membership, Maturity, Ministry,
Missions, and Magnify. Membership in Christ's church
is vital for support and fellowship. Maturity is an
ongoing process of developing the key habits of Bible
study, prayer, and quiet time with God. Ministry occurs
when we serve the rest of the church body through effective
expression of our God-given gifts and talents. Mission
is our opportunity to witness to our friends and family
as well as outreach to our community and our world.
Magnify is how we worship our Lord through corporate
praise, prayer and singing.
Core Classes
There are five "core" classes at New Hope
Community Church, which should be attended by all. We
highly recommend that you take Class 101 first. Other
core classes may be taken in any order, but may benefit
you the most if taken in numerical sequence. Classes
101 and 201 will be offered six times each calendar
year. Classes 301 and 401 will be offered three times
each, or as demand requires. Class 501 is in development
and will be offered when ready.
CLASS 101
Introduction to Life at New Hope
This class teaches the purposes behind New Hope: why
we exist and what we believe. You will learn how our
church is structured, our strategy for accomplishing
our vision, and the benefits of becoming a member. This
class is required for membership. Offered in one two-hour
session.
CLASS 201
Discovering Spiritual Maturity
This class focuses on the four basic habits every Christian
must develop in order to grow to spiritual maturity.
Features of this class include various methods of Bible
study, how to develop a prayer life, stewardship of
the resources God has given you, and the importance
of spending a daily quiet time with God. Offered in
one four-hour session.
CLASS 301
Discovering My SHAPE for Ministry
This class will help you discover the special way God
has shaped you to serve others in His kingdom. You will
discover your passion, your spiritual gifts, and your
personal style. You will interact with other class members
who will confirm and offer insights into your shape.
This class is offered in two four-hour sessions on consecutive
weekends. A personal consultation with a staff member
will follow the class.
CLASS 401
Becoming a Contagious Christian
This class will teach you how to share your faith in
Jesus Christ in a style that is natural and comfortable
to you. You will watch video presentations of everyday
situations you may find yourself in with an opportunity
to present the gospel. You will practice in a non-threatening
environment and will help others gain confidence in
their ability to share. Offered in two four-hour sessions
on consecutive weekends.
CLASS 501
Magnifying Our Lord
This class will teach you how to worship. The history
of Christian worship will be covered as well as the
reasons we are to worship. The roles of prayer, music,
