January 5

Read Genesis chapters 16-18
  1. How did Sarai and Abram try to ‘help’ God? What happened to Hagar?
  2. Why did God change the names of Abram and Sarai?
  3. What sign of the covenant did God institute in 17:9-14?
  4. Who were the three visitors to Abraham and Sarah?
  5. Why did Abraham intercede for Sodom?

I don't think the Bible ever says who the men were, just that Abraham was their servant. Gen. 18:22 says 'the men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the Lord'. I took this to mean that the Lord was with them, but not one of the three.

Other versions say that the Lord remained with Abraham. Also in other versions it says: "Then one of the angels said....." Gen 19:17
